Lady Day Farm

Lady Day Farm is a regenerative no-till farm embracing permaculture principles, going beyond mere sustainability to prioritize soil health, resource conservation, and increased productivity. Rooted in community and guided by values of renewable farming, animal welfare, and fair wages, Lady Day Farm aims to reconnect people with nature, their food, and themselves, all while demonstrating that farming can be an environmental asset, fostering food security, combating climate change, and nurturing abundance through community collaboration and harmony with nature.

Lady Day Farm’s primary revenue streams come from CSA memberships and local farmers’ markets, offering a diverse range of produce, honey, olive oil, eggs, meat, and herbal medicine.

At Lady Day Farm, the ethos is clear: work with nature, not against it. Through no-till regenerative farming methods and a permaculture-inspired approach, the farm surpasses mere sustainability, striving to build healthy soil, sequester natural resources, and unlock the full potential of the land.

Lady Day Farm champions renewable farming practices, animal welfare, and fair labour practices, honouring all beings, from the soil beneath our feet to the skies above. It serves as a hub for connection, inviting people to re-connect with nature, their food, and ultimately, themselves.

"In my years of farming, one of the greatest highlights is coming together with individuals from multiple backgrounds and perspectives. I hope to echo these monumental memories on my own farm here at Lady Day." - Nico Fattore, Founder

The loan from the Fair Finance Fund will play a key role in enhancing Lady Day Farm's resilience and operational efficiency, ultimately leading to substantial growth in farm production. Specifically tailored to fortify the farm's systems, the allocated funding will support Phase 1 of the farm's production and operations, laying a strong foundation for future success. This phase encompasses critical elements such as acquiring tools and equipment for no-till farming, sourcing materials for vegetable beds, cover crop and vegetable seeds, constructing a chicken tractor, and more.

By partnering with organisations like Kawartha Conservation to plant native species and establish windbreaks, Lady Day Farm demonstrates the power of collaboration in preserving the land and supporting wildlife. Embracing a no-till approach that minimises reliance on machinery creates opportunities for job creation, economic empowerment, and personal growth.
